Community Preparedness Program Manager for the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security. She joined the staff in July 2009, following almost eight years with the Colorado Springs Fire Department as the Community Services Program Manager and non-emergent Public Information Officer. She also worked on the development of their nationally recognized wildfire education, awareness, and mitigation program.

Stephanie works for the Aurora Office of Emergency Management as an Emergency Management Specialist.  Stephanie’s background includes Master’s in Community Practice Social Work and International Security.  She works to promote citizen emergency preparedness and public education throughout the region and works with local and regional partners to develop exercises to train first responders in preparing for, responding to and recovering from emergencies and disasters.

Andrea is Coordinator for Response Teams within the Disaster Planning and Response Program of the Colorado Division of Behavioral Health (DBH), and a Disaster Assistance Employee with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Acts as the liaison between the DBH and the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and provides local disaster coordinators with technical assistance for team development and statewide sustainability.

 Carolyn has presented over 250 educational presentations on emergency
management, disaster preparedness, mitigation, damage assessment, property
insurance, importance of flood insurance, and making claims on damage. She has
working knowledge of an operating Emergency Operation Center, FEMA Recovery
Center and key governmental staffing. She was also one of the team members who
trained federal, state, county and city employees on emergency management,
catastrophic recovery, damage assessment, reimbursement, and mitigation.

She is responsible for developing and coordinating emergency/disaster preparedness
and training for citizens, Citizen Corps, Community Emergency Response Training
(CERT), Volunteer training and other programs for the City and County of Denver.
Research methods for opportunities to establish sustain and expand existing
programs. She is the primary contact person for citizen, volunteers, businesses and
other outside agencies for information on programs and educational opportunities.

The primary education program is the Citizen Emergency Response Training (CERT).
CERT focuses on individuals taking personal responsibility for self, family,
community, and business preparedness. One of her main goals of this training is to
empower individuals and organizations to take the steps to understand, prepare for,
and respond to the hazards that threaten our community.
