Community Emergency Response Training (CERT)
Denver CERT is a free course that provides citizens with comprehensive training in disaster preparedness and response. Through classroom learning and hands-on training people will learn how to help themselves, their families and their neighbors during and immediately following a disaster, and in the process save lives that may otherwise be lost. Topics covered include:

  • Disaster Medical Assistance
  • Light Search and Rescue
  • Fire Safety
  • Terrorism
  • Disaster Psychology

Animal Response I and II
The Colorado Veterinary Medical Foundation offers CERT supplemental training in animal response. The supplemental modules Animal Response I and II teach CERT members emergency preparedness for animal owners, how to recognize specific animal behaviors and about situations involving animals that they may encounter in performing their broader CERT response functions and provide an introduction to the topic.

Are You Ready? (FEMA course IS-22)
The "Are You Ready? An In-Depth Guide to Citizen Preparedness" has been designed to help the citizens of this nation learn how to protect themselves and their families against all types of hazards. It can be used as a reference source or as a step-by-step manual. The focus of the content is on how to develop, practice, and maintain emergency plans that reflect what must be done before, during, and after a disaster to protect people and their property. Also included is information on how to assemble a disaster supplies kit that contains the food, water, and other supplies in sufficient quantity for individuals and their families to survive.

The workshop objective is to enable participants to prepare themselves, their families, neighborhoods, communities, and places of worship for emergencies.
